Short skip tonight on 20
« on: January 16, 2014, 18:10:22 UTC »
20 meters has been very bad the last couple of weeks, band would always close around 1600 UTC. But tonight is a different story: the reverse beacon network shows reports both from the USA (east coast), southern Germany and Wales at 1800 UTC. Called CQ for a while and made a 2-way QRP QSO with DL1MDZ from Munich.

I only wish there was a bit more activity!!  ;)

Going back a two or three years now.

I worked George GM3OXX he was 599+ running 1 watt no QSB at all at my QTH Nr. Manchester... that night I was hearing what I think was 'back scatter', weak watery signals from the South coast of England, can't recall the time but it was around 10 O'clock in the evening.

The first time I've ever heard a GM on 20mtrs and I'd been a swl many, many blue moons ago before getting my license,  his signal was incredible.
