Been a long time
« on: August 25, 2017, 08:19:02 UTC »
It's been a long time since I've visited the forum...club site too for that matter. I went to the QRO dark side for a while but now back to my roots again.

Just redefined my definition of DX to match operating conditions.  So, I now consider northern Sweden rather than northern New York State DX when operating my HW8 or other QRP rigs to a low Par EF20 antenna.

Redefinition might be good idea for other QRPers, no matter where you are.

I will be most active on 14.060 mHz +/- afternoons French time. Hope you hear me. I am on QRZCQ, not the other site. An e-mail would be appreciated if you hear me but I don't hear you.

Well, I had some results on the RBN. All Europe. QSOs with Sweden and Switzerland. Sweden was 1048 miles/1687km so not too bad for 1 watt  and a low wire.

The RBN is a great asset for seeing if a QRP signal is reaching anywhere and I use it regularly, though mainly with 5 Watts but even when I'm not getting replies from my CQs if I can see my signal spotted on the RBN it encourages me to keep on trying.

Had double-digit RBN reports from two NA east coast stations Sunday. Very satisfying though a 2-way would have been even better.

I worked W3MS in MD 20m on the 26th of this month at 2302z , but I was QRO with 5 Watts and 2el quad.
I'll be QRV as SV8/GM0LVI/P from 1st September for 3 weeks with a KX3 and GP antenna.
