How about Delphina?

-means "of Delphi", an ancient Greek city whose  name is rooted in Greek δελφις (delphis), meaning "dolphin" ,which makes it a nicely circular name derivation!! 

If it is a male dolphin, it could be Delphinus. If an Italian dolphin, maybe Delfina.  If Irish, Deilf (meaning 'dolphin', strangely enough!) I vote for Deilf, but then I would...

The first name that came to mind was Rudy. i have no clue where in  my grey matter THAT came from, but for some silly reason I like it a lot. Anyone I've ever met with the name Rudy have all been very nice people who you could count on. Maybe I've just been lucky.
