Hello everybody's
I wrote an article (MORE ANTENNA TESTING) in FALL 2012 issue of QRP QUARTERLY, this is the Magazine of QRP ARCI CLUB. which I'm member for over 30 years.
This antenna is a double zepp fed with 450 ohms open line connected directly to the KX3 ELECRAFT transceiver, without matching like a balun or other device.
The big question was: Does this antenna tuner can load an antenna (double Zepp) feed with a 450 ohms open wire line ?
This double zepp is 2 X 10 meters each legs, a top a modified fiberglass telescoping pole.
The center insulator is a "VERSA-TEE" from Buddipole and I had to modify the top of the mast
to fixed it, Then I can connect my wires, one or two vee 90 degrees apart and the 450 line to have a solid attachment.
The answer is yessss, It works very well on all bands from 40 thru 6 meters.A big surprise for me, so I was very happy to see this KXAT3 Internal, Wide-Range 20-W Automatic Antenna Tuner, doing this nice job without problems, and more happy to have excellent results on the air with hundred of QSO's.-
Unfortunately, I tried to put this article on the forum, it is only 2 pages, but it doens't work, it is not like a photo.
So if you can access to this old magazine, (FALL 2012) you will find the article, or may be Nicola have a better idea ? as I have the original article here, and it would be fun to have this one and other articles on the forum ? or another place where it would be possible to put informations related to antennas, just for the benefit of amateurs.
By writing this, I just wanted to help other users of the KX3, and let them know, that, YES it is possible easily and it works.-
You need just one support to fix the mast with bungee cord, like a picket fence, or a pic-nic table and a couple of trees to attach the end of the wires.
